He was sentenced to a year in jail, but was released in September after completing a four-year prison sentence.

The man, who cannot be named, was also found to have previously had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl, but this was not reported to the police.

The woman was later charged with possession of child abuse material.

In August this year, police were tipped off that a 16 year-old boy, who had been abused by the man in his 20s, was being abused by a child in his 50s, but the man was not charged.

The council is currently investigating whether it should prosecute the man.

Detective Inspector Chris White, of Northumberland County Police, said: “I have been in contact with a number of people who may have been involved in this.

I am currently working with the CPS and the RSPCA to get the relevant legislation to work in their favour.”

The Metropolitan Police are continuing their investigation, and are appealing for any information to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 01173725.

The Metropolitan police has also launched a child abuse inquiry.
