But it’s not just for the surgeons.
Her doctor may also be able do more invasive procedures like cutting her face open and inserting plastic plates into her facial bones.
A recent study by the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery found that women who had a plastic plate implanted in their facial bones were more likely to experience pain during facial reconstruction.
Researchers said the plate can cause an increased pressure on the facial nerve.
The plastic plate may also cause a decrease in the amount of blood flow to the facial bones, which may cause a reduction in the ability to detect facial nerve palsies, a condition in which nerve cells are damaged by the pressure of the facial bone, researchers said.
Some women also have an abnormal pattern of bone growth in their faces, leading to a higher chance of developing facial nerve problems.
This has also been linked to facial nerve complaints, like facial bone dysplasia.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons is encouraging women to seek care for a plastic surgeon to treat facial nerve issues and other issues related to their facial appearance, and it recommends that women seeking facial surgery seek an experienced plastic surgeon who is licensed and credentialed in their area.
The American Academy’s statement said that women should be careful to tell the surgeon they have a facial nerve problem.
